Fable Restaurant in San Francisco
Opened in 2013 in the Castro neighborhood, Fable showcases a passion to create seasonal, approachable and top-quality food without the pretense (or price tag) of fine dining. From starter to dessert we take pride in each and every dish we serve. We are acclaimed as both the best garden patio restaurant and best brunch in San Francisco.

We know that those who dine at Fable will have a magical experience no matter where they choose to sit in our intimate restaurant in downtown San Francisco. Join us in our beautiful outdoor garden oasis. Have brunch in the sunshine and dinner in the warmth of our heated, covered outdoor patio. Fable’s fenced-in garden patio takes guests even farther from the bustling Castro street. Our secluded back patio is green with overhanging vines, trees, potted plants, warm breezes and sunny seating. Relax with a glass of beer or wine as well as one of our seasonal dishes, and you'll feel like you're in Palm Springs.
Fable represents the next evolution in California cuisine. We use only the freshest ingredients and as a result our menu changes frequently with the availability of the locally grown produce that is currently in season. Fable is looking to bridge the gap between farmer and consumer by preserving the story that the ingredients in each dish tells. Our chef finds inspiration from the selection of quality meats and the bounty of fresh seafood that can be found in our area. We take the familiar and present it in our own unique style by adding the unexpected - a hint of kumquat, a touch of coriander green tea or a blood orange aioli.
Life and food are better with wine. We hand pick each glass or bottle of wine to compliment the flavors of our food and the changing seasons. We have thoughtfully created a wine list to help you choose the perfect pairing for your meal. Our list includes a number of select California wines. Additionally, we offer a rotating draft selection featuring great beers sourced from various local and national breweries.
