Fable Restaurant Reopens for Dine-In Service with Renovated Garden Patio

As demand for outdoor dining surges, one of the city’s top patio restaurants welcomes customers back with improved venue

San Francisco, CA – Fable restaurant in the Castro reopens on June 15 with a renovated outdoor garden patio for diners. Two of the patio decks were updated with additional greenhouse awnings for coverage and heat lamps to make the open-air space more weatherproof. The work was completed while the restaurant was closed for in-person dining for over three months due to the COVID-19 stay at home order.

“We feel fortunate that Fable can welcome back customers to an updated, open-air garden patio,” says co-owner Ramsey Garcia. “We really hope that people will come out to support the Castro neighborhood businesses and local restaurant community.”

Despite breaking even or operating at a loss most days, Fable remained open throughout the city’s stay at home order to provide food options to the community. Fable was forced to quickly change operations to offer a special carry-out dining menu and contactless ordering. It was a big change for the restaurant’s business model, a dine-in only restaurant for over seven years.

“We’ve now mastered plating food in a box instead of on ceramic and putting wine in a bag instead of a glass,” said Jon Vargas, Fable’s new co-owner. Although Fable is now open for dine-in service the restaurant will also continue to offer a to-go menu every day for both pick-up and delivery.
 

Fable’s reopening also includes new offerings including a daily lunch service and happy hour. It is the first time the restaurant has ever offered lunch and it showcases sandwiches made from the chef’s homemade focaccia bread. Fable’s happy hour, aptly named “Charcuterie & Wine Time,” is served daily in the garden from 3-5:30 p.m. and features discounted wine, charcuterie boards and small bites.
